The fine print, in the open

Trolley dash — competition terms.

These terms apply to the "Buy a fibertime™ voucher at Shoprite and win a trolley dash" competition, together with the general rules further down this page.

  1. The promoter. This competition is promoted by fibertime™ ("the promoter"). Shoprite Checkers (Pty) Ltd is not the promoter of this competition and acts only as the retail partner where qualifying purchases are made.
  2. Competition period. The competition runs from 00:00 on 1 September 2026 to 23:59 on 30 September 2026 ("the competition period"). Vouchers bought outside the competition period do not qualify.
  3. How to enter. Buy any fibertime™ voucher at any Shoprite Group store in South Africa during the competition period and you are entered automatically. Each qualifying voucher counts as one entry, and you may enter as many times as you buy vouchers. Your entry is linked to the cell number used when the voucher is activated.
  4. No extra cost to enter. You pay the normal price of the voucher and nothing more. No additional payment, purchase or consideration is required to enter, in line with section 36 of the Consumer Protection Act 68 of 2008 ("the CPA").
  5. Who may enter. The competition is open to natural persons who are 18 years or older, resident in South Africa and in possession of a valid South African ID, passport or other proof of residence. Directors, members, partners, employees or agents of, or consultants to, the promoter or the Shoprite Group, their marketing and advertising agencies, and the spouses, life partners and immediate family members of any of these people, may not win.
  6. The prize. One winner receives a trolley dash at a Shoprite Group store, to a total value of R3,000. The store, date and format of the trolley dash will be agreed with the winner. The following items are excluded from the trolley dash: gift cards, airtime, lottery products, gambling products, and liquor or tobacco. Any amount above R3,000 is for the winner's own account.
  7. The draw. The winner is selected by a lucky draw from all qualifying entries. The draw is overseen and certified by an independent accountant, registered auditor, attorney or advocate, as required by regulation 11(6) of the CPA regulations.
  8. Contacting the winner. The winner will be announced and contacted by the fibertime™ team, on the cell number linked to their entry, in the first two weeks of October 2026. If the winner is not contactable or does not answer after 2 attempts from the fibertime™ team, made on separate days by phone call and by SMS or WhatsApp, a new winner will be drawn on the same terms.
  9. Accepting the prize. The winner may decline the prize. The prize is not transferable and cannot be exchanged for cash, credit or fibertime™ products.
  10. Taking the trolley dash. The trolley dash takes place within 30 days of the winner confirming acceptance, at a Shoprite Group store convenient to the winner and agreed with the promoter.
  11. Publicity. The promoter may invite the winner to take part in publicity for the competition (for example photos or a short video). The winner only takes part if they give prior written consent, and declining has no effect on the prize.
  12. Your information. The promoter processes entrants' personal information (voucher purchase and activation data, and the linked cell number) only to run this competition — to draw, verify and contact the winner — in line with the Protection of Personal Information Act 4 of 2013 and the fibertime™ privacy policy. It is not used for anything else without consent.
  13. These rules. A copy of these terms is available on this page and free of charge on request from the promoter for the duration of the competition and for three years afterwards, including to the National Consumer Commission.
  14. General rules. The fibertime™ general competition rules below also apply. If these competition terms and the general rules conflict, these competition terms win.

Terms version: 31 August 2026 (draft — not yet published).

General rules

Rules for every fibertime™ competition.

These apply to every competition on this page, unless a competition's own terms say otherwise.

  1. The law. All fibertime™ competitions are promotional competitions run in terms of section 36 of the Consumer Protection Act 68 of 2008 and its regulations.
  2. Entering means accepting. By entering a fibertime™ competition you accept that competition's terms and these general rules.
  3. Who may enter. Unless a competition's terms say otherwise, competitions are open to natural persons 18 years or older who live in South Africa.
  4. Who may not win. Directors, members, partners, employees or agents of, or consultants to, the promoter or any retail or supply partner in a competition, their marketing and advertising agencies, and the spouses, life partners and immediate family members of any of these people.
  5. Fair play. Automated, bulk, third-party or fraudulent entries are invalid, and anyone who tampers with a competition is disqualified. A winner found to have broken the rules can be disqualified after being announced, and the prize redrawn.
  6. Decisions. The promoter's decisions on a competition are final, to the extent the law allows. The promoter will answer reasonable questions about how a draw was run.
  7. Prizes. Prizes are not transferable and have no cash alternative unless a competition's terms say otherwise. A prize that is not claimed within 60 days of the winner being announced is forfeited, and the promoter may redraw or dispose of it.
  8. Changes and cancellation. The promoter may amend, suspend or cancel a competition where the law requires it or where circumstances beyond its reasonable control make it necessary. Any change will be published on this page.
  9. Risk and liability. Winners accept and use prizes at their own risk. To the extent the law allows, the promoter and its partners are not liable for any loss, damage or injury arising from a competition or a prize.
  10. Your information. Personal information collected through a competition is processed in line with the Protection of Personal Information Act 4 of 2013 and the fibertime™ privacy policy, and only for running that competition unless you consent to more.
